Process
From first contact to completion
01
Get in touch
You describe your matter. We tell you which documents are needed and suggest an appointment.
02
Review the draft
You receive the draft deed in advance and can ask questions and discuss changes.
03
Notarisation
The notary reads the entire deed aloud, explains it and answers your questions. Then it is signed.
04
Completion
We take care of the next steps – such as the land register, the commercial register, the register of wills or the register of powers of attorney.
Documents
What to bring
- Valid identity card or passport of all parties
- German tax identification number (e.g. for real estate and gifts)
- Existing contracts, deeds or register extracts
- If represented: the original power of attorney
- If needed: an interpreter, if you do not speak sufficient German
Something missing? Call us beforehand – we can request many documents ourselves.
Costs
What does the notary cost?
Notary fees are set by law for all notaries in Germany (Court and Notary Fees Act, GNotKG). They depend on the value and type of the transaction – not on the time spent.
We are happy to give you a cost estimate for your matter in advance.
The fees are the same for all parties and may not be freely negotiated. Who bears them is agreed by the parties in the contract.
Frequently asked questions
Questions and answers
How long does a notary appointment take?
That depends on the matter. A certification often takes only a few minutes; a notarisation – for example of a purchase contract – usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes.
Does the notary really read everything aloud?
Yes. For a notarisation, the German Notarisation Act requires the entire deed to be read aloud. This ensures that all parties know its content.
What if I do not understand something?
Ask at any time. The notary is obliged to explain the content in an understandable way and to advise on its legal implications.
Is the office accessible?
Yes. The office at Am Kai 8 by Lake Phoenix is reachable via a spacious lift with level access.
